The Western Positive Psychology Association is dedicated to creating a collaborative scientific community of faculty, students, and scholars to advance and support an academic agenda in the field of positive psychology.

The vision of the Western Positive Psychology Association is to promote an influential and sustainable academic presence of positive psychology in the western region of the United States. WPPA encourages teaching, scientific research, interdisciplinary collaborative investigations and dissemination of knowledge in positive psychology and strongly supports the professional development of positive psychology faculty and students.

Established in 2013, WPPA brings together the scientific community of faculty, students, and scholars to share their latest rigorous, evidence based empirical research in the science of happiness, excellence and optimal functioning.

September 5-7, 2014

The Western Positive Psychology Association (WPPA) in collaboration with the Claremont Graduate University (CGU) celebrated a series of special events focused on positive psychology.  Professionals, academics, and students alike joined us to participate in the vibrant on-site community  or to joined us online for real-time interactive webcasts of the events.

Sept. 5 – Friday  North of Normal  World Premiere

In 2013, doctoral students Angela Mouton and Monica Montijo embarked on a worldwide adventure asking people “what do you love?” and  “what is your greatest passion?” and “what has been a peak experience in your life?”   From outback Australia to South Africa to New Orleans, enjoyed together the world premiere screening of human experiences!  See the trailer.

Sept. 6 – Saturday – The Future of Positive Psychology: A Tribute to Dr. Csikszentmihalyi 

We hosted a special symposium focused on the Future of Positive Psychology celebrating Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi’s 80th birthday and career contributions.  Leaders in the field celebrating with us included Martin Seligman, Antonella Delle Fave, Howard Gardner, Hans Henrik Knoop, Jeanne Nakamura, and Stewart Donaldson.
